August 22, 2025 IPv4 Final Changes

1. Why is my IP address changing?

We are finalizing our VA1 data center network. As part of this, two IP address ranges are being retired:

  • 205.251.68.128/25

  • 67.23.108.192/26

If your website, server, or service is in one of these ranges, it must be moved to a new IP to remain online.

2. When will the change happen?

The change will take place on Friday evening, August 22, 2025.

3. What is DNS?

DNS stands for Domain Name System.

Think of it as the internet’s phone book:

  • You type in a web address (like example.com).

  • DNS tells your browser which IP address (the “street address” of your website/server) to go to.

If your IP address changes, DNS needs to be updated so visitors can still find you.

4. What is an IP address?

An IP address is a unique number assigned to your website or server on the internet (like 205.251.68.150).

It’s how computers find each other online — similar to how a street address helps someone find a building.

5. Will my service go down?

We will do our best to keep downtime short.

  • If 8Dweb manages your DNS, we’ll handle the changes for you.

  • If you manage your own DNS, your website or server could be unreachable until you update it with the new IP address.

6. How do I check my current IP address?

  • For a website:

    1. Visit https://www.whatsmydns.net/

    2. Enter your domain name.

    3. Look at the IPv4 “A record” — that’s your current IP address.

  • For a server:

    ping yourdomain.com

    • On Windows: Open Command Prompt and type:

    • On Mac/Linux: Open Terminal and type:

7. How do I update DNS records?

If you manage your own DNS:

  1. Log in to your DNS hosting account (this is often your domain registrar or a separate DNS provider).

    • An A record is the setting that links your domain name to your IP address.

Find the A record for your domain.

  2. Replace the old IP address with the new one provided by 8Dweb.

  3. Save the changes.

  4. Allow some time for the update to take effect (DNS propagation).

    • This can be as fast as a few minutes, but in some cases up to 24 hours.

8. I have a Plesk server. Do I need to do anything?

If you have a Plesk server with multiple websites:

  • We will change the server IP address for you.

  • We will manually update each site subscription so it points to the new IP.

  • You should still test each site after the change.

9. Who is responsible for DNS updates?

  • If 8Dweb manages your DNS, we will take care of it.

  • If you manage your own DNS, you are responsible for making these changes after the IP update.

10. Will there be more IP changes after this?

No — this is the final planned IP change as part of our VA1 data center consolidation.
